About the Lakota Book Mission
Bob and Nancy Ide started the Lakota Book Mission in July 2005, after their return from the Lakota Mission Trip. During their visit to the reservation, they found that the residents were in urgent need of books: for adults and especially for kids, new and gently used. As of October 2007, Nancy and Bob have sent an incredible 383 boxes of books and even a few videos to the Lakota Reservation in South Dakota.
Bob and Nancy have also maintained contact with LaTicia and Yvonne DeCory, who run the Be Excited About Reading (B.E.A.R.) project in association with Oglala Lakota College [olc.edu]. They gave out 400 books in four days before Christmas 2005! They also help need families with groceries, heating, etc. It is really exciting to be part of something that can help so many. We will be continuing to send as many books as you give us. Thanks for the books and your prayers!
